Police addressing tribal fight in Nebiliyer: PPC

WESTERN Highlands' Acting PPC, Chief Inspector Kaiglo Ambane says efforts are in place to address the ongoing trouble fight in the Nebiliyer valley.

Mr Ambane has urged critics and especially leaders to join him in looking for ways to meaningfully end the bloody feud, which has inconvenienced travelers as well as the warring clans.

"We have to look at the best avenues to address this conflict. These things take time and we are doing our best.

"It is not easy just to get in there and talk with the clansmen to lay down their arms. It takes a lot more than that," said Mr Ambane.

He said he was looking at better ways, since the demise of peace talks and welcomed suggestions, although he believed a wholesale approach was necessary.

Mr Ambane said critics were quick to blame police without actually understanding some of the work that has taken place.

He also urged the PNG media not to sensationalise some of the stories, which he added were responsible for the tribal fights getting out of hand.
