Sector participates in Child Rights Reporting

 TWO sector Media Officers are currently attending a 3-day Reporting Course in Port Moresby, organized by UNICEF.

Acting Director of the Correctional Service Media and Community Relations Section Richard Mandui and Senior Sergeant Peter Langiri from the Police Media, will represent the sector in the course.

"It's a new area, especially, the rights of the children. Children Rights are also being addressed in the sector, and I hope this training can help us," said Mandui.

He added that often children rights were taken for granted and he hoped the course will assist them, look at the different available avenues to promote their rights.

Minister for Community Development Dame Carol Kidu opened the Workshop, urging the media to ensure that, Children's Rights were eloquently covered, taking into account some of the sensitive issues.

She further praised the composition of the participants, adding it covered a wide range of professionals, who, she believed would assist the children; get a voice in the mass media.
