The Commissioner
The Correctional Service is headed by a Commissioner who is appointed in accordance with Section 193 of the PNG Constitution.

- CS Commissioner Richard Sikani
Mr Sikani hails from Wewak in the East Sepik Province in Papua New Guinea. He holds a Masters degree in Criminology from Melbourne University Australia, and also has a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours and a Bachelor degree from the University of Papua New Guinea. He is a career officer from within the Correctional Service and has served the Correctional Service for more than thirty (30) years, as Commanding Officer in various prison establishments in PNG.He also served as the Head of Criminology and as acting Director of the PNG National Research Institute. For overseas attachments he had served at the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) in Canberra, ACT and New South Wales prison establishments in Australia.He has wide experience in corrections and criminal justice system in PNG and the world or within the Commonwealth. He is now also asked to serve as Board Member representing Oceania on the ICPA and the Prison Infrastructure Development in Geneva Switzerland World Boards.Commissioner Richard Sikani had been awarded by the Queen Elizabeth II of the Commonwealth two (2) distinguished Medals for his distinguish services to the PNG Correctional Service and the people of Papua New Guinea. The Medals awarded were Officer of the British Empire (OBE) and Distinguished Services to the Correctional Service (DCS) in Papua New Guinea.
- Henry J Wavik- Deputy Commissioner Operations.
Deputy Commissioner Wavik comes from the West Coast Area of the East Sepik province. He holds a Diploma from the University of Papua New Guinea in Social Administration. A career officer he was recruited in 1977 and has served in jails in the Enga, Simbu, ABG, Milne Bay and Bomana jails.
- Dominic Tomer- Deputy Commissioner Corporate Services.
DC Tomer is one of the key figures in the PNG Law and Justice Sector and was formerly the ACP. He holds a Theology Degree from the Bomana Catholic Seminary and has been with the CS for over 15 years. He comes from the East New Britian Province.
David Kunabom- Assistant Commissioner Highlands
Mr Kunabom comes from the Jiwaka Province and has been a career officer, serving several jails including Barawagi, Buimo and Bomana. He was formerly the AC for Finance and Administration.
