Services Provided by the Ombudsman Commission
Being a creature of the Constitution, the Ombudsman Commission provides the following services as stipulated as its roles and functions under the Constitution:
- Receiving complaints from the public sector and conducting investigations
- Conducting own initiative investigations
- Attend Judicial and Legal Service Commission meetings (Chief Ombudsman)
- Attend PSCAC meeting (Chief Ombudsman)
- Human Rights advocate
- Guardian of the Constitution through Sections 18(2) and 19 of the Constitution
- Police complaints oversight
- Discriminatory Practises
- Protection of elections and candidates from outside or hidden influences.
- Enforcement of the Integrity Law Sections 129 and 130 of the Constitution.
- Advisory
- Providing advice to the Governor General regarding other callings.
- Playing a leading role in establishing the Pacific Islands Ombudsman Forum
