An experienced Community Based Correction (CBC) Officer says more emphasis into the work of the CBC can assist youths evade law and order challenges.

Susie Vuvut, East New Britian's Officer in Charge reflected this to her colleagues, that while other equally important issues were addressed, juveniles should be treated specially.

"They are the ones that we should be constantly targeting. Proper, advise, counseling and even supervision will enable them to appreciate that helps is not far away," said Mrs Vuvut.

She further added that unlike other agencies, the CBC has been hampered by regular funding, but networking with key stakeholders will help, address some of these challenges.

Mrs Vuvut further said that the new Junvenile Justice Policy contained crucial developments that can make a lot of changes to the CBC format of addressing youths.

"I think it is an exciting policy and we just have to make it work from where all our strengths are," said Mrs Vuvut.

She further added that she hoped more assistance can be challenged, especially, carrying out awareness work about the Juvenile Justice Policy.
