Sector education kit attracts students

 Sector stall visitors

The sector's education kits and the picture gallery was a huge hit for visitors and students at the three-day Show Case PNG exhibition.

Beginning on Friday September 5th, sector materials were all distributed leaving the stall empty, as sector show bags were prevalent among the show goers.

"Our materials have targeted the schools and this was well received," said Arab Kirio of the LJSS media. This exhibition showed us the next step towards raising awareness."

He added that many of the questions raised were related to the role of police; however others were keen to know about the sector's role.

Mr Kirio also added that students were also keen to know how schools would be part of the law and justice sector.

Visitor Peter Watinga said the exhibition spot was eye catching with the various displays of photographs and special reports.

He said while the sector was a big group, short and simple messages also assisted visitors to understand the sectoral approach.

"It is a great exhibition. It is simple, colorful and attractive," said Mr Watinga.

Student, Nikata Nige found excitement in the sector publications. A Grade 11 student he said he could relate to the subjects and issues to learn about the sector from the education kit.

"It is an innovative way of communicating the messages," he said.

2007 Law and Justice Sector Annual Performance Report RELEASED

The Law and Justice Sector Annual Performance Report has been produced by the Justice Advisory Group (JAG) on behalf of the Law and Justice Sector Secretariat since 2005.

The report for 2007 provides information on 60 of the 63 indicators which are contained in the Sector's Performance Monitoring Framework. The information is mostly gathered from existing databases from Law and Justice Sector agencies and other information from specific surveys conducted by the JAG.

The report of the activities in the Law and Justice Sector for 2007 is produced in a different format to previous years. It consists of five booklets. Each booklet covers the indicators from one of the five goals that make up the Sector Strategic Framework.

The annual performance reports are useful because they provide baseline data and also trend data in relation to progress and performance within the Law and Justice Sector. The information is increasingly used to assist agencies with planning, monitoring and resource allocation across the Sector.
